Development of duo 28/11/13

What changes have we made to my duet and why?

We have made some changes in the duet such as changing the structure to ABC and using this as telling a story. We used the idea of turning the telly on and flicking channels to go back into the 1990's then the 1950's.  We also have made a change on the movements we created on the floor this was by using a simpler phrase of movement to make it look better.

How have we ensured that our choreograpthy respond to stimuli?

We have ensured that our choreograpthy responded to the stimuli "eras of dance " by researching eras of dance and the dance style that they did in the year. We also used the idea of basketball as this was a old object ,We also looked at old Tv programms in the 1990's.

What structures/devices have you used in your duos?

What structures/devices have you used in your duos?

we have used many different devices for our duet such as ;
  • cannon
  • repetition on movements ( motif)
  • motif development
  • levels (using the floor)
  • formations (changing places/patterns)
  • dynamics ( force, speed, flow ) we have used force for the basketball motif and speed as bouncing the ball.
  • contact
  • symmetry
  • climax ( lifts)
  • movement components
we are also using the structure of our dance as ABC this is telling a story (narrative)

Have you refined movement in your duos?

blog

how has my duet choreography developed?

The duet has developed by adding in old skool hip hop moves and contact work, we have also developed floor patterns to make the choreography more enjoyable to watch.
We have also worked on the structure of the dance as ABC telling a story, we have came up with the idea of having the a sound of someone turn on a T.V to be watching a basketball match, the lights go off and we are suddenly in the basketball match,we came up with the idea of a basketball responding to the idea we had on our dance planner. We have also came up with a motif (basketball move) witch will be developed varied and repeated.
To consider as part as a duet we need to be able to respect one another ideas and add them into the routine,we also need to be able to trust each other and work as a team when making up the routine. For today's achievements we have a clear structure of what we are going to be doing in the routine of old skool hip hop and a clear floor pattern at the beginning of our routine.

Devices

Devices within dance

  • Motif
  • Movement compents
  • Stimuli
  • Dynamics
  • Motif development
  • Symmetry
  • Cannon
  • Unison
  • Contact
  • Climax
  • Repetition
  • Stillness
  • Logical sequencing (how your body wants to move)

We are thinking about using motif of a basketball to repeat (repetition) and develop throughout the dance.  We are also thinking about using contact work of passing the basketball to each-other and high fiving each-other.

Structure of dance

A B A-Binary Going back to the start

A B C B A –Arch A is repeated at the end.

Section B is also repeated.

Section C is the middle section. It is not repeated, the climax of the dance.

A B A C A D-Rondo

section that is always repeated (section A) possibly with developments.

In between this, there are different sections that provide a contrast to section A . These can all be different, or some could be repeated, for emphasis.

We are thinking about having the structure of the dance as binary.

Research

we have researched into 1990’s

Popular music these are some;

Use it as a lyrical as Madonna says “strike a pose”Madonna also uses

Choreographing a duo

Which era of dance I might focus my duet on?why?

There are many eras of dance I would like to do but ,the main on I'd like to focus on is 1970's. The reason for that is because I am inspired by the music witch creates me to get a grove on and there are so,e great clips on YouTube 1970's reminds me of disco. I might also focus on the 1990's because I like the movements and also the "Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" theme song inspires me and makes me think of the 1990s also I think it would be fun to add in the Carlton dance.

What dynamics and eras did I demonstrate today?

Today in class we demonstrated eras of dance these were 1920s and 1970s. We responded to a picture what was given to us, we created a tableaux from it and then developed it into a motif we used dynamics such as ; force flow speed

We was given a photo of a man and a women doing charleston dance by the photo we got the idea that it was a cheesy fun dance. By using the picture we created a tableaux. We used a lot of mirroring and facial expressions. With this picture we used dynamics to create movements from the tableaux. We mainly used force witch was light and speed witch was fast we then developed the motif and this was by us changing floor patterns and different directions but going back to were we first started of by using structures this was a ABA.

10th October

How are my ideas developing for my duo?

My ideas are developing for my duo by using devices of dance such as;
  • Cannon
  • Unison
  • having a climax in the dance ( cliff hanger)
  •  Stillness creating a tablque
  • Logical sequencing - how your body wants to move
  • Repetition of movements
  • We are thinking about having one movement we develop during the dance and repeating it throughout the dance. ( motif)

We have been doing workshops in class to help us with our duet we have taken the tablque workshop and are going to create one using facial expressions for the chacater we are role playing and how they felt being a dancer in the 90's.
